Just read an article that claimed that Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche's roles in Trading Places were "career defining." Nevermind that Bellamy won a Tony Award for Sunrise at Campobello in 1958. Nevermind that he won a career Oscar in 1987. Nevermind that Ameche's portrayal of Alexander Graham Bell in 1939 resulted in his name being used to MEAN telephone for years. Nevermind that he won an Oscar for Cocoon in 1985. They were great in Trading Places. It did not define their careers.

The 1989 film The War of the Roses, starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, is presented as a cautionary tale told by a divorce lawyer (Danny DeVito) to a new client ("Man in Chair"). The client never speaks. The same year the actor who played the client voiced a role in a new television cartoon. It was Dan Castalanetta.
