 Lucky enough to see Natasha Richardson in the role in 98.

Love Liza as I do, I think Natasha's Sally truer in spirit to Isherwood. As was Julie Harris.  Defeated, not plucky. Hope to be sure. But ultimately misplaced. We look at Liza and know she will be a star. We look at Richardson's Sally and know she is going nowhere.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

 The line is: "I k now a bank where the wild thyme blows, W here oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine..." 30 years later, in the middle of the night, it occurs to me that I might have said "Quite o'er-canopied" rather than "over-c anopied...' And now I can't sleep!
