Hannibal

When the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, came out, I read it. Meh.

When the film version came out, I saw it. Meh.

But in the second act, Lecter and the Florentine detective (Giancarlo Giannini) attend a modern opera based on Dante's sonnets, with music by Patrick Cassidy.

We hear Vide Cor Meum, sung by soprano Danielle de Niesse and tenor Bruno Lazzaretti.

Stunning!

Cassidy turned it into a full opera twenty years later.
