  Saw an interview with Roger Corman, discussing the difficulty of directing Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre in The Raven in 1963. He said it was because Karloff "was a classically trained Shakespearean actor and Lorre was a New York trained Method actor." This made it  very difficult for them to work together, their styles clashing so. Nope and nope. Lorre studied with Brecht in Berlin and Karloff had no training at all.

 Finally saw the Michael Fassbender/Marion Cotillard Macbeth, directed by Justin Kurzel. Absolutely brilliant take on Birnam Wood coming to Dunsinane!

  When Graham Chapman, of Monty Python, came out in the late 60s, they received a letter from a woman saying that she had heard that one of the team was gay and they should know that the Bible says that any man who lies with a man should be taken out and stoned. Eric Idle sent her a letter saying "We've found out who it was and we've taken him out and had him killed."  In his memoir, Chapman said that this took place just before John Cleese left the show, and he always wondered what the woman thought about that.
